Someone in my friend group was on her motorcycle in town and was t-boned by a car that ran a red light. Her leg was obliterated in the impact and had to be amputated. She wasn't even riding recklessly, it wasn't at a high speed and the collision wasn't even her fault. They just didn't stop and her life was permanently altered.
