Star Trek nerd. Military Sci-Fi enthusiast. Involved in OSINT in college. I know too much about military hardware. Advocate of worker's and self defense rights. My main transport is an E-Bike. I wish we had better public transit. I own too many air rifles. At some point I need to get in to skeet.

His nation... the United States? He was born in New Mexico. He committed fraud to get USAID to pay for his education.

Meanwhile USAID paid for Anwar al-Awlaki's college education. Other funds or materials went to the Al-Nusrah Front, Ansar Allah, Hamas, the Taliban, and armed groups in Ethiopia.

A system of preferring candidates based on sex, race, or sexual orientation rather than pure qualifications or ability due to the belief that some groups are inherently advantaged over others. In other words race/sex/sexual preference quotas vs meritocracy.

If you didn't recognize the author he's one of the grand masters of science fiction. He wrote (or co-authored) Ringworld, The Mote in God's Eye, and Footfall. He later was an advisor to the Reagan administration on SDI and to DHS on future terrorism threats. He puts a lot of thought in to everything.

Well... part of my family fled the Communists when they took over Ukraine just after WWI. So, yes I really don't want that to happen here. Not wanting a totalitarian ideology to kill people makes me a reactionary?

You do know the historical background behind that meme right?

I really love it when people think I'm a Trump supporting Russian bot without ever bothering to look at my post history.

He was impeached and acquitted in the jurisdiction the event happened in. The 14th Amendment is federal, incorporation in the 14th Amendment is for rights not crimes and its a stretch to say he violated Section 18-11-102 of CO's legal code (he wasn't even in the state on Jan. 6th nor used "force of arms" prescribed in the law) Do we want 50 separate state courts trying every crime committed in federal jurisdiction? That is going to get funny very fast when one state decides to abuse that.

What does the 1st part of the clause say? "Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor..." Impeachment covers disqualification to hold office. The trial he went through already judged him, had the power to enact the punishment stated in Amend. 14 Sec. 3, and acquitted him of the charges the CO district court is now charging him with.

Impeachments are political and the 14th Amendment Section 3 restricts a persons' political actions.

The federal level already did it and acquitted him.

Yes, lets have a state level court enforce federal penalties against people already acquitted in federal court. What could possibly go wrong! Texas and NY are already hinting they're going to do this against Biden and Trump respectively. So we're going down the road to the Soviet system where there is one name on the ballot in each state? Good thing for the EC and failing that a vote in the House counter these kinds of games.
