The difference comes down to tone; it's actually pretty faithful to the book with a more "Propaganda" feel to the film. IMO, it's okay...

Xenocide's twist makes most of M. Night's look like watered down bourbon...
They're a different game compared to the others, I completely agree, but I gave it credit & stuck through despite it not being as readable.
