I make tiny swords as @thepocketforge on instagram

Yes! It's just a tiny copper disc, I lack the thumbs to make it look like an actual design

Thank you mate! Honestly it’s nice to get hand-related feedback from someone who gets why they get that way. I started using barrier cream and bio oil, but definitely could have started a little sooner!

Nice! Best of luck and have fun. If you are looking for some good tips on getting started, the forgecast is a great podcast, and r/blacksmithing on Reddit is also a great resource

Less than 1kg, that’s for certain

Forged to the rough shape, then hand file and grinder to get to the final form, as you would with a full sized one! I try to forge as close as possible although at this scale it’s not practical to forge as close you could at full scale

Thank you! Crazy how a random hobby can end up becoming a life!!

Yes, with the exception of the kaskara which is forged from wrought iron, which doesn’t harden. And the chonk bonk, which is made of wood! But the rest are tool steel that’s been hardened and tempered

Yes I do on occasion, I generally try not to make a habit of making unlicensed merch because although it’s definitely more in demand than my original work, it doesn’t really give me any kind of artistic fulfilment? Also I don’t want to get sued! But I have made all three of those before, you’ll find em on my instagram page

Yes! There is one in my shop currently, there are a few different styles I tend to do on rotation

It’s a lovely thought and I have mad respect for artists who do. Sadly in my case I just about make a living as an artist and there’s really not a great deal of money in it, especially with prices of handmade work already out of many peoples budgets. Maybe in a few years if the project evolves or grows in scope

*to do with the geometry

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s basically where the geometry of the blade- so if you can imagine the blade in cross section, start with a diamond shape and grind some material out from between the spine and the edge with the round wheel of a belt grinder leaving a concave face instead of flat

There are a few purposes to this, it can aid in a finer edge in a knife, but in a thrusting weapon like a rapier, it will allow the blade to have a nice prominent spine without too much weight, allowing it to be stiff and light.

Very kind of you! Hopefully in 5-10 years time after the inevitable collapse of capitalism, I can barter you one in exchange for some penicillin and a strip of lizard jerky!!
