Not saying I agree with the strategy, just an idea. Also I know a bunch of you people/attack helicopters have 1k+ hours in Skyrim
Spending less time in lore, per quest, and story to get stuff done means more content (get more shit done, not depth per say) and bang for $
Theory: so many games come out that people want to play that spending as much time as previously on a single game is improbable for most ...
How important are playing the previous games before 3? Could I jump straight into 3? Would that then run 1&2 of I go back?
