Heyo. So, I didn't get it at first until someone spelled it out for me, but the point of a protest isn't the protest itself: it's gathering like-minded people together. Not only does it show solidarity, but it also shows you who you need to talk to in order to plan more effective actions. It shows people with a bias for action, and potentially, a desire to do more than just wave signs. It's safe, public, and a great opportunity to network with others who hate what's happening out there.
Thank you. This is an excellent way to explain this, and also a great reminder middle aged is a lot closer to 35 than the 50 most people consider it to be. I dunno about the rest of you, but my retirement plan? Dying in the Water Wars.
