There's a reason why the most anti-immigration guys you can think of keep getting caught with farms, factories, meat-packing plants, and construction sites full of undocumented immigrants. Documented Workers are Free Workers and Free Workers can demand their rights. It's a modern day slave trade.

And then that performative progressive will still sail to election over the psycho the republican primaries in my area spit out. Because way may be sick of progressive d-bags, but we're not gonna drink poison to get rid of them.

Then there's the secondary problem: Every districts/states primaries tends to offer up the same flavor of candidate. For example, I'm represented by a performative progressive jag who'd rather remain pure and get nothing than compromise and get some of what she wants. I'd much rather be represented by an old-school meat-and-potatoes labor democrat. But even if my rep gets a hint and steps down, the primary in my district will spit out another performative progressive.

The main problem is this: Constituent Services. Everyone thinks *their* representative and senators are fine, there the folks you call when the social security checks are late. It's all those other folks reps and senators that are crooks that need getting rid of.

It's a bet I really don't want to win. I just keep my fingers crossed that he has the shreds of dignity enough to just fade away.

I have a very depressing bet with myself that in the next year or so he is going remake himself as a hardcore right-winger, because that crowd is into that sh*t, just to maintain something that looks like a fanbase.

Under the Geneva Conventions, misuse of protected symbols is covered under the war crime known as Perfidy.

Same deal with using a white flag to feign truce or surrender to lure your opponent into a trap.

Per the Geneva Conventions of 1949
1. It's a war-crime to violate the protections granted to relief workers wearing red-cross emblems.
2. It's also a war-crime for belligerents to misuse red cross emblems to provide cover for action against the enemy or to protect military targets.
When one side violates #2 the other stops caring about #1 and will engage in #2 themselves. Next thing you know, running humanitarian aid in the conflict zone becomes impossible.

Yeah. By the time was secure enough in my job to do a Vegas trip, it was already gone. Alas.

I had to look this up. That is the 23-FT Voyager Model they had at the Star Trek experience in Vegas. When it closed down, a lucky fan scored it,

Here's the grift: The biggest anti-immigrant businessmen are also the most likely to be employing undocumented and misclassified immigrants.
Why?
Because documented immigrants, legal permanent residents, and citizens can't be terrorized into working for peon wages.

Calling it the "Evil Billionaire Club" almost dignifies them almost akin to calling them "super villains".
I prefer to think of them as sniveling cowards who folded to new protection racket in town before they even sent a couple of rough looking lads around to do the "nice place you have here" song and dance routine.

He spouted lefty talk when he thought it would get him into the good parties.
Now he's spouting righty talk thinking it may keep him out of prison.

That thing, it looked like a whale. But it was not.
It wore the whale's carcass as you or I would wear an oilskin.
It needed it to safely traverse our world as we would need the oilskin to walk the deck in a swall.
It was a thing of nightmares probing the boundaries of the here and now to find a way to fully break in, and bring with it madness, pain, and death in its wake.
And poor mad Ahab, in slaying the beast at the cost of his own life, saved us all.

Venezuela is used as an example of how a wealthy country can become a poor country overnight. Maduro's predecessor/mentor Hugo Chavez rode to power stoking the resentments of Venezuela's rural population against the "Urban Elite", then drove the country into ditch governing like a gangster. Sound familiar at all?
