Yeah but TBH we were mostly replacing them from 2000 onwards with F/A-18s. We kept them til 2010 for conversion trg. Maintenance was costly

It’s both. Alternating lines in the chorus.
It appears that a smooth ride and the tyres (treads?) separate from the wheels at 88 mph.
Fun fact: you wouldn’t be able to connect any of those pieces so you’d be forever trying to stack them or stop them floating off
