I really don't get why you would take the calf away from its mother if it's all this small scale.
Connecting a sound to a meaning is literally what words are. Not understanding grammar or context doesn't mean not understanding single words. If I know what Tamales means, I absolutely understand the word, even if I might get the context wrong.
There's a distinct look about the contrast and too evenly rendered details that AI tends to have, but also look at the random third horn or the feet of the right one. Or the bird with two heads.
As a professional artist and art teacher: This isn't spontaneous. He has drawn this or very similar characters dozens, if not hundreds of times. Which isn't a bad thing, just very different from creating a character on the spot.

It's not tough once you realize that you can be against the death penalty while still thinking that some people would deserve it.

I agree in general, but I don't really think this actually is about second chances. Their fanbase is very much aligned with people who "don't want politics involved in music" and taking a strong stance against the right will cost them fans and money, so they play it safe. Plus, D&W might be over, but you can still buy and stream the music, getting them paid. Even if single members can't change that for legal reasons, they could very much donate their share to appropriate causes combating the 1/2
