Even if true, that’s not the sort of thing you fly hundreds of high ranking military officials into a single location for. Literally could have been an email if that was the point.
That’s the problem, none of the alternatives are any better. Unless you’re willing to do a metric shitton of research for every product you buy, chances are something you buy owned by one of the big companies. And there are millions of people who actually can’t afford to boycott because the alternatives are just too expensive, even if they felt motivated to do so. Most people are stuck, they may not like it or disagree morally with the big companies, but people need what they need.
This. He had a groundswell in 2016 that didn’t amount to jack shit when the chips were down. Rallies didn’t translate to votes, which is all that matters at the end of the day. And if he couldn’t pull in the votes in the primary, why the hell should we have believed he could pull them in the general?
Acyclovir is fairly inexpensive in the US. I’m not saying we’re not getting robbed, but as far as perscription meds go it doesn’t break the bank.
I appreciate the horny, but I’m amazed at just how much smut there is involving Guardsn Tales’ blacksmith.
This. I will never, ever forgive my country for putting that racist, rapist, traitorous shitbag in office, and no one else should either. We deserve the hate we get, especially for being too cowardly to remove him and his ilk from power by force. Every day he still gets to fuck everyone over is a day we’re complicit in his atrocities, and I hope being American makes our people pariahs across the world.
This. We *liked* Nazi Germany up until we entered the war, and any disdain we had for it afterwards was largely propaganda to make it seem like we always opposed the Nazi regime in order to avoid the embarassing truth. We’ve always been a bigoted country, we’re just better at lying about it in ways that other countries believe.
Assuming furry porn is accurate, I can promise that the risk of pregnancy this way is absolutely sky high.
They legit think the reported deaths are lying about being attributed to COVID, or just never happened. The cognitive dissonance is insane.
No, that’s the beauty of it. Winter will come and then the super apes will simply freeze to death.
And as an aside, I simplified it to just the music and memes because that’s what you seemed to single out for derision, despite the fact that the internet is where a lot of our culture is, and somehow deriding Taylor Swift despite her contributing to the push to get young people to vote. Plenty of the groups at Woodstock were also pop culture bands that faced similar derision, they weren’t all there purely for counter-culture and protest reasons.
2/2 , despair, companionship, etc. in ways different than music. Not better mind you, just different. We’ve seen how simple memes can change our culture, “i can has cheezborger” helped cement that the internet is for both porn and cute cat pics (and you may laugh at how silly that sounds, but it’s not wrong). Similarly, we now use memes to help communicate and vent about what’s happening around us right now in ways that may be more accessible to some than others.
My argument is that you’re diminishing the impact of memes, I wasn’t trying to argue Woodstock wasn’t significant. Meme has two definitions, one of which is what we typically think of, funny pictures and text. But the broader definition is this:“an element of a culture or system of behavior passed from one individual to another by imitation or other nongenetic means.”Memes can be just as counter-culture and impactful as anything in the way that they call attention to current events…1/2
Question, what’s the difference between protest music and anti-fascist memes? Both use popular cultural media to promote messages they support, and both give people some small comfort against what they’re otherwise powerless to fight against.
Hmmm, on the one hand we have a direct quote from Chip Roy that specifically cites having just given birth is no excuse for not coming to the floor directly to vote. On the other hand, we have a claim that this direct quote is spin doctering and that Roy wants this to require a full constitutional ammendment (while conveniently ignoring that the chances of this even being considered, much less passed, are basically nil).
If the wheel failed that dramatically then the safest assumption is that the plane was not inspected and maintained the way it should be, and that other severe problems have gone unreported. You don’t want to risk the chance that something else is wrong and find out halfway through a multi-hour flight, potentially too far from another airport you can land at safely.
Balatro. I was a fool and downloaded it onto my phone so I could play it anywhere. That part of the plan worked great! The inability to focus on anything else not so much.
There are legitimately people that believe he became president the instant the election was called, and that anything good that has happened in the weeks since is his doing.
To me that just reads as the same excuse we’re all using to keep our head’s down while the US becomes a dictatorship. “I didn’t cause this, why should I risk myself to fix it? I’ve got people to take care of, it wouldn’t fix anything, etc.”I’m including myself in this of course, I’m just as if not more cowardly than everyone. That just makes me as culpable for letting this country fall apart as the MAGA people that put Trump into power.
Please for the love of all that is decent don’t let any American men into your country. If we can’t get be trusted to get it right here, we definitely shouldn’t be trusted to get it right anywhere else.
You shouldn’t be getting downvoted when you’re 100% right. We fucked it up, and we all know we’re too craven to do what’s right. If we’re really lucky history will remember us the same way it remembers the Germans who didn’t vote the Nazi’s into power: Cowards.
It’s pretty simple logic: All the lawyer has to do is convince the judge that anyone he’s a danger to don’t count as people. Pretty good odds they’ll succeed too.
Absolutely feeling this right now. Nothing about this holiday season went well, and I’m so fucking glad it’s over.
I don’t think even that will move the needle. Sandy Hook proved that the GOP willing to sacrifice children to the altar of the gun industry, and Vance’s comment about that being the reality while campaigning proved it’s now the party’s official platform. We’re expendable to them, and they don’t even have to hide that fact anymore.
Some of us legit can’t separate them, as soon as we hear the voice we also get reminded if how terrible the artist as a person is. I tried a few times, and listening to his music again just didn’t sit right with me st all.
Dude, same. My dad had Bat Out of Hell II in his cd player all the time, I listened to my burned copy constantly whenever I could. Now I can’t even stomach having the music on my phone just in case I see it and get reminded how much of a shitheel he became.
Compared to most CNC or lathe parts, it’s really not. Because it’s solid, most of the metal is still there. My last shop had a part we made around 50 of per month that started as solid round about 10” dia x 14” long, weighed ~150 lbs. When we were done, the part weighed less than 3 lbs.
Oh the CNC doesn’t care one whit. The cutting tool on the other hand…
Four years seems pretty optimistic, all things considered.
I was legitimately thinking the same thing the day after. We live in a tremendously complex and fascinating universe, and we’re fortunate enough to live in a time when we’re taking our first glimpses into it all. But a few rich bastards don’t think they’re rich enough, a few zealots are willing to kill millions of others for their beliefs, and too many people believe the lie that those few are the right people to lead us.Oh well, maybe another species will figure this all out.
