There are different flavors of death
I would imagine you'd still be in darkness but IDK. If you are catching up to light speeding away, it's not like you'd see the object they left which is behind you. You'd probably only see the light that is heading toward you, so maybe visible light ahead and total darkness on the sides and back?
To be fair, life as we know & currently understand it was also a bunch of oopsies that build off each other.

Nah, not really. I'm not going to put the years of animation practice I'd need to recreate the boss fights or anime intros it's done for the different seasons of our campaign, and while I'll eventually pay an artist to draw an actual good cover image of the characters, ai makes it really easy to scaffold and test aesthetic ideas. Ai for art should only ever remain as a storyboard like how movies sometimes use a music score as a sample & stand in during production until a later piece is composed.

He's not wrong, but human speech allows us to scope things into a context that removes the metaphorical cog from the machine in order to better contextually communicate about it. Yeah, some people forget about the machine as a whole and that the cog is just a small part of a bigger interconnected piece, but human speech is context dependent and sort of limited to specifics, and so sometimes it helps when focusing on the piece instead of being blinded by the whole or writing a novel to include it
