A bipartisan immigration bill passed the Senate in 2013; McConnell didn't let it come up for debate in the House, killing it. Obama asked them to present a bill, they said he should solve it himself. He issued executive orders to do what he could, they cried executive overreach. Eight years of Trump, they put forward nothing. Now Trump is telling them not to make a deal (again) so he can campaign on immigration.
Very much this; there is no "level of transness" you have to satisfy in order to be a "real trans person", and even if there was, doing what you want with your body is no one's business but your own.
It's only cognitive dissonance if it comes from the cognitive dissonance region of France, otherwise it's just sparkling hypocrisy.
