but there are parts where automation is just not viable due to risk of contamination or the fact a good old pair of eyes works better
you've also got the side of test requirements, loading the machines etc. Most testing portions are automated (PCR, ligand tagging etc)
if you're doing it by conductivity then the whole machine is already contaminated with god knows what's inside those samples,
I mean we still need to label, look for signs of leakage, make sure the sample is viable etc etc.
I once recieved a pathology sample. I did not work in Pathology. I quote the porter "I have overies in a bowl here"
and even a 5ml vial of blood can give us less than 1ml of usable serum after it's spun down depending on the "quality" of your blood 2/2
It does depend on the ammount of tests needed and the equipment available. There are a lot of Antibody testing etc that we can look for 1/2
Work in a hospital lab, 24 hour urine collections do indeed come in buckets. Sometimes multiple....
