You're correct though that there are different sizes of pellet...mine are Omega One betta pellets and they're little.

Fair enough, but he did say that was after it had been abandoned, and the totally irresponsible setup suggests it wasn't doing much better.

Great idea! Get plenty of aquatic plants/moss if you do shrimp.

So he's definitely got 0 ammonia 0 nitrite <20 nitrate?

That's so frustrating... I lost one recently that had terrible persistent fin rot. Spent weeks on forums, never figured it out. Perfect H20

"Feed what your fish can consume in 3 minutes!" Yeah, ok, I'll do that... *betta explodes*

Mine too (betta specific). Soak one in tank water, you'll see it's real size. ;) Food package instructions are almost always crappy.

(and small volumes change temp much quicker). Good mini heater with a thermostat keeps things in a safe 3 degree range. :)

Not if you air condition your house! Mine fluctuates between 73-80 some days, and you know it's the fluctuations that are really stressful

Is it a heated, cycled, 5-10 gallon pickle jar? Sure! Otherwise nope.

Yep! Just make sure your betta has *plenty* of shady places to swim and hide (you can even cover or block part of the light)

As OP said, these are just the basics. Make sure you do your homework and CYCLE YOUR TANK before you put a fish in it. <3

Stores: because they can get away with it and make a buck. People: because they have no clue how much they DON'T know about fish care.

Hello! What's your feeding regimen as a breeder? Iv'e always heard the Thai fellas give them a pellet every other day.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice. So lucky your betta and guppies got along.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just make sure you do your homework before you get one! You need to cycle the tank which can take up to a month. Fish care takes patience

Typical...

*if you're lucky and have a large tank with lots of hiding places/territories*

First, last, and most important question: "what's in this water?" Sorry for your loss <3

What RoshansBF said...as an experienced aquarist, the math just doesn't add up. It's a gimmick. Sure some aquaponics work, not these tho.
