My first decade on imgur will be spent commenting and collecting puppy pictures. Only then will I have earned the right to create a series of posts. Those posts will contain a decade of puppy pictures. It will be called puppylanche and it will change everything. Get this to the front page won't change anything. You have to wait a decade for the puppylanche just like everybody else!
Well, since it isn't my 10th cake day quite yet, I'll say goodbye here. I might be back in a month, I might not. I'll leave my account up for those of you who might need puppies. The puppylanche would have been awesome to behold...
I doubt protesting is going to fix anything. This site has been sadly dieing for years. I was less than 4 months from my first post. I had already requested the day off. The puppylanche would have been epic. I think I'm just going to move on. I won't delete my account though. Maybe I'll come back in a month just to see what happens.

Right, but that one experience is what we choose to latch on to and project onto the profession. They are the exception, not the rule but because negativity is what is expected, that's what many see.
While not an educator myself, I spend a lot of time around teachers, and hear the conversations about and frustration with being unable to reach this or that student. Teaching, especially high School, is not a job most people do unless they are really dedicated.
I think the perception that good teachers who care about their students are rare is probably far more strongly connected to our perceptions as teenagers experiencing the world without understanding certain realities then is actually true.
