I know. I agree, when someone blames Capitalism they usually just mean "modern society". Fundamentally capitalism is just the ability to invest in something without being liable for more than the principal of the investment. I hope it's still a funny meme.
There was a line about uncle Thumper and "big pills". I'm pretty sure the original joke was about a proctology exam and probing Thumper's butt. I can see why that joke was taken out of the kid's movie.

I'm thinking we may be able to accelerate the counterweight faster than gravity using a huge spring. However, other spring based designs like the catapult and ballista, don't measure up. If a contracting spring is more viable with modern materials, would we need the counterweight at all? Maybe just connect the short end of the lever directly to the bottom of the frame? I think the velocity curve is different with a spring. The spring will start fast and get slow, the counterweight is opposite.
Maybe restricting it to muscle power would be good. If a jet engine or nuclear explosion were involved it would feel like cheating to me. Perhaps we can restrict our silly thought experiment to: A large projectile launching device that can be reloaded and reset exclusively by humans and horses?
I haven't heard the story about the pastor, I don't know the evidence but regardless I firmly believe: "innocent until proven guilty". If you could decide the verdict before the trial then why have the trial?
Cute videos, great animals, editing could use some work. I watched the long gif, waiting for the end when a suprise drops but there was no surprise, just a cute video. Maybe wrap it up with a text outro like: "and then Rusty got 65th place! I'm so proud of him!" I hope this constructive criticism is helpful. As far as flinging technology goes, I think SpinLaunch is the best trebuchet humans have made.

I guess it depends on the rules you set for when something is a trebuchet that flings a large object and when it is a railgun that pushes it. Earth's gravity will limit how fast the counterweight can fall. Maybe we can get it faster with rockets? The rope or chain attaching the arm to the counterweight looks like a point of failure, maybe use a wheel instead? This project is becoming spinlaunch.

If the normal burner is 400° and you want to emit 10 minutes of heat in 6 seconds you will need a 85,506° burner.
