That's what I was thinking, I lived in an apartment for two years never once did they raise the rent.

Where did you see this? I just got back from oki and Osaka both places when I asked about the sushi I was told that's american not Japanese.
Merican sushi is pretty much any roll, they rarely serve it like that in Japan.
