Hey! I'm a 47 years old Italian, browsing the usersub 'cause some things are just awesome. I like boardgames and pen&paper RPGs, astronomy and astronautics, and composing music (which you can listen on www.soundcloud.com/fabiocalzolari ).

This wasn't an election, but a referendum, and a very complex one to understand for ppl not already in the matter. More, the result didn't require a quorum (a minimum of 50%+1 voter to be valid) so, for what it is, the number of voters surprised everyone.

I hear you. My BEST RPG experience has been 20 years ago, playing a TEXT BASED italian MMORPG: it had a dedicated client with a bit of UI, but you could have played it with a terminal.
The devs/admins/moderators were always active in punishing mix/maxing and non-RPG play, and sometimes they took bad decisions, but in that years i've had the most epic/poetic/moving plays of my entire life.
Which is why i ceased to do modern MMORPG very often (also, at 56 i'm becoming a slow player ;-) )

If you want a clue about why Trump do what he do, look at what commercial agreements EU is trying to find to avoid to buy american energy (being the russian one "forbidden"), then look where Trump sends the Army to create crysis and overthrown governments.

Not all cats are the same. Mine hates physical contacts, she just search for my left hand and during the night she sleep on my highest point (which is my hip, as i sleep on my sides) only if there are sheets or i am dressed.

It is part of my low-calories, low-sugar daily diet. I HAVE to eat 30g of Parmesan per meal.
I couldn't be more happy for this.

Also, being born and living in Bologna helps a lot :-)

I tried, but none of what i wrote was returning something.
What's the right tag?

Yup. My daughter started "modern jazz", starting from when she was 6y.o., on a tiny school near to our house. She was'nt talented (or phisically gifted) as other girls but compensated with hard commitment and extended training.

When she started developing curves (big curves), the teacher started talking to my daughter about being fat, the need to be on a diet and the risk of being kicked of. Getting rid of anorexia was the consequence. It's been 15 years, I still want to kick that woman ass.

Well, to me she is that kind of actress that can be extremly attractive in some movies, and absolutly "ordinary" in other. I'm unable to explain why this happens, or what causes it. I feel the same for Penelope Cruz.

Or, maybe, I am twisted as you say; after all, I don't like Monica Bellucci also.

I've done the same the day after Berlusconi won his last election. I was'nt able to imagine someone worst than him as a nation chief, given that he was been involved in Mafia association. So I told to a (ex) friend that I was thinking at him as an accomplice and I didn't want to be associated with that kind of persons.

So I understand you... well, even mode than how I was "pardoning" myself for being so rigid. I know it hurt somehow, but we need to stay coherents with our values.

I'm guessing that you're not living in Italy :-)

Yeah, lot of rules and exceptions to them. But we balance it with almost non-arbitrary, coherent pronounciation, while for us getting how an english word is spoken seems always a betting game :-)

Some thoughts about this:
1) This is true, but not the full truth; Italian net import/export with US is +1.5 pt of PIL, Italian net import/export with Germany is -1 pt of PIL. You see how taking a strong position against US can bring to BIG consequences no matter what's your poilitical orientation.
2) I didn't fear our far right wing too much 'cause i thought that EU and US will never let the biggest aircraft carrier in the mediterranean sea go in fascist hands... i'm not so calm anymore.

You're missing the point: that 8 countries will send each an handful of soldiers as "observers". If those are killed/captured, those 8 countries will have the political reason (for how each of those counries governs and parliaments works) to immediatly exit NATO and start an EU only alliance pact, at a minimal cost. Also, those nations all have some strategic relevance (sea/land access), while a good part of NATO nations are not relevant, if not completly isolated if some other country exit.

Here in Italy the hospital personel will tell you that they already has an important job to do, so you'll enter only if you're sure to not faint, as they'll ignore you (I doubt this is true, but the concept is clear).
I am the last person willing to see blood and body fluids and whatever else is not supposed to be exposed out of our skin bag, but I have to say that i never regretted for being there for both of my sons birth.

Love is to know yourself enough to take the best decision for her.

She acted in a fair number of movies, most of them belonging to "Erotic" genre, some to the "italian sexy comedy". The quality of the movies or of her acting is ap to debate ;-)

She also posed for "playboy-like" magazines multiple times, and has been in TV shows of that era.

Not wrong at all. I know pro instrument players (both modern like el.guitar or drums or classical like oboe, clarinet or violins) regularly hired for recording sessions or for live big-orchestra but they can't make a living out of this, so they all have ordinary jobs.

Yeah. IMGUR comments are'nt the best way to discuss about this all; also my self-taught english isn't good enough, and also i'm a programmer and not very skilled in "large social behaviour analysis".

But the guy felt somewhat hurt, and i understand him 'cause i get the same when italian are generalized as a nation, so I tried to explain how it is from this side of the pond :-)

... to make things better, But seen as a nation, US is like historical Nazi Germany.

I won't include Fascist Italy in the comparison 'cause we had the partisans agains fascism from the very beginning (which is something i would have expected from US ppl), and also we were a very poor and ignorant nations at the time, but i see how this is debatable and i'll accept any disagree at this.
I get that you feel hurt in the generalization, it is the same for me. But from here, US now is scaring.

From here we don't hear any Democrat voice -other than Sanders, and this only if you get news from the web - so the image we have is that US is a nation soaked with racism, egoism, bigotry and ignorance. Honestly, the only differences between who's in power in the US and the Taleban is the god they say to worship and amount of money and weapons available.
It is obvious that there's willing ppl against this all, they march, they protest, and for sure they do any act of kindness they can ... 2/3

Honest answer from an Italian, and willing to be teached if i'm wrong:
'cause to get where you're right now, it needs to be a whole society problem. I can't understand the amount of racism and ... "hate for everyone else than isn't part of my circle" used by Trump to win the election if this isn't exactly what is deeply embroided in the US society; and also we see you pay with the life of your students for 2nd amendment that it should already have been used but instead nothing happens. 1/2

My son wants to be a movie director. Obviously, when you start a career you do a lot of the relevant jobs, which includes being a camera operator.
As he's been an artistic skater for 20 of his 26 years, he once told me that he could try to work in the US movie industry 'cause there's a specific job where there's much less competition, which is the "skating camera operator". He had to explain me what it was 'cause I had a hard time in believing it

Also, rice (at least in Japan, and in the 80s) comes out as clumps. It was enough to plant one chopstick in the rice bowl to get a decent size clump of rice.

The rice having to be well separated and the grains not stick to each other is an occidental thing.

How cottage cheese and ricotta are related to lasagne?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Italy rigid wires were banned decades ago (you can still have them in your house, but cannot be installed anymore).

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an Italian (and from Bologna, too) I agree with her until Lasagna. Only an handful of things are better than Lasagna (when made with Ragu alla Bolognese) and were not mentioned in the video.
Also, +10 points for proper pronounciation of "Bruschetta" :-)

Ignorant from Italy here: is this referring to one of the twins Kelly astronauts?

4 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well, the topic here is not even recent history, but "yesterday"; i replied to a comment written in present, and your point is about 1000 years ago? You and me are living today, and we both aren't reponsible of crusades, fascism or slavery, right?

You may like it or not, but in the US today there's a level of bigotry and extremism, in the christiam community, that's here in italy i've seen only in very small groups (so, not noticeable until you stumble in them); that's all i wanted to say.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"The overwhelming majority of US christians"; here, now the sentence is correct.

Stop thinking the rest of the world is like the US; while i agree that the christians you describe are a lot, they're not the majority.

I think the joke is funny only if you already know the joke, so you understand what's happening in the moment it happens. That joke is not universal: if i do that in italy i'll get worried faces in the best of cases, unless then i have the time to make joking faces and explain it.... and you know how good a joke is when you have to explain it.
