Maybe Imgur's oldest. I marched against Vietnam, lobbied to lower voting age, stood against racism, cherished gay friends, and made a nuisance of m'self at city hall but still considered myself fairly conservative... meaning, I chose civil disobedience over violence and anarchy. People using violence to force their beliefs on society are not confined to left or right...they're just selfish, amoral assh0les.
Wagon Train bra: head 'em up and move 'em out.
Going through this with newly rescued Catahoulas. Being litter mates, if one does something they both do it. Guess I have been adopted into their litter ✌️ Thank you for the remainder to be patient.
Last year, America grew by 1 million square km by extending its boundaries to 200 miles off our submerged land mass, not simply from its coastline. That's why all the jokes about making Canada a state. We are also smack against Russia's front door in the Bering and Arctic Seas, so it may become the 52 state 😂
This expansion took 20 years of research. Completed 2024.
That part about free will? It is important.
I've heard many justify atheism based on the prevalence of violence, abuse, and disease affecting humanity: a real God would prevent such things. Well, that theory is narcissistic: humanity is responsible and accountable for the condition of our society.
It's no wonder some religious texts compare us to sheep, who lack awareness, cannot hunt, wander unaware, follow other sheep into danger, remain wholly dependent on shepherds.
You know you can always decline such conversations, right? Elevated negative emotions will give you wrinkles and heartburn.
Local person gave her little boy up for adoption because he appeared to be gay. Happily, he is in a loving home and thriving outside her rigid philosophy of hate.
Also: you did well as a parent.
...spirituality is not dependent on a religion.
"...and I got me a pen and paper, and I made up my own little sign. It said Thank You, Lord, for thinking about me. I'm alive and doing fine."
Oooh... cranky, hungry, and drunk squirrels. You're in for a wild ride lol
Oh, I wish! Drunk squirrels try to jump or climb the weirdest thing. They would jump too short and miss the tree, execute a perfect jump and forget they had claws... faceplant. Several caught the picnic table bench with only one paw and just... swayed... until they passed out and fell off. Drunk squirrels fighting? No words. They were like tiny, furry humans yelling and throwing hands before passing out. They were still mad when they woke up.
Truth. It's more than just what you believe ...you should know *why you believe it.
Science and faith are not mutually exclusive, something many of humanity's deepest minds have acknowledged: R Boyle (Boyle's Law), Lavoisier (modern chemistry), Faraday (electromagnetism, defined link between light and magnetism), Mendel (science of genetics), Riemann (Riemann Hypothesis, geometry that led to Einstein's relativity work).
lol you made my day
This, I understand. My bestie attended a very old Catholic church and invited me one Sunday. I was enchanted by the windows and old wood and candles. It was breathtaking. Tried to join her at catechism but nuns threw me out... I wasn't Hispanic. As a 7 or 8 year old, that confused the dickens out of me. I was so dejected on that walk home.
Whoa, slow up a minute... what's this about churches not wanting people to know about museums and planetariums? I have more life behind me than in front of me and I've never seen that happen.
My thorp has about 150 people, 1 store, and 7 churches. Neighboring town has bar crawls... we could have church crawls lol
This approach is akin to holding a full tilt intervention every time you see a friend with suspicious behavior. That's not help. That's bullying.
Just let your life speak for itself, answer questions when asked.
That's closer to pars pro toto fallacy. I marched against Vietnam, lobbied to lower voting age, stood against racism, cherished gay friends, and made a nuisance of m'self at city hall but still considered myself fairly conservative... meaning, I chose civil disobedience over violence and anarchy. Same with my parents and grandparents. We had choices. Parents that force kids to their beliefs are not confined to left or right...they're just selfish assh0les.
Yessss! Let me know when it's in production?
I've had some... experiences that led me to ask if science couldn't play a bigger part in faith. Tesla said to learn the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, freq, and vibration. Ancients believed F# chord was harmonic freq of the planet. Cheops pyramid supposedly produces that freq. DNA & RNA supposedly exhibit biological, infrared freq that translate to sound. F# appears across 4 bases. Unsure where this leads, but it's a curious topic. Also Pythagoras Music of the Spheres
Squirrels and rabbits I've been nurturing would form a cabal and run me out of town. Squirrels are still a bit salty after they ate beer soaked chips, got stupid drunk, and fought with the whistle pigs.
Oooh. I love these! Do you sell them?
I'd put wallet in my pocket to make room for a case like this. If it was a Labrador.
This is a thoughtful response. Grew up in church dedicated to service to others. The preacher's wife stapled crêpe paper to girls' skirts for modesty. No idea why clothes interfered with worship, but ok. When our scout leader was run off premises for being gay, I didn't know what gay meant but I knew firing her was wrong. Then the troop was disbanded and only white kids invited back. I walked out and never set foot in it again. Try until you find a church with acceptance and service.
Yes, ideally those terms would be synonymous but humans are too often slaves to their emotions, specifically fear and loneliness. They become easily manipulated if offered companionship, structure, community. Predators know this and build entire systems to reel in prey. Worship should not require awe inspiring edifices, fancy clothes, bejeweled symbols, or secrecy. Yet, that's what 'religion' has become. I'm not criticising any religion, just concerned with direction it seems to be taking.
Spirituality and religion may not be the same thing. Spirituality is closer to acknowledgement that every living thing has energy and one seeks resonance with that energy. Acceptance, empathy, joy tend to be hallmarks.
Religion has become very structured, often prejudicial, and requires obedience to peculiar versions adopted by religion's leaders. It has very little freedom, too much fear. It often forgets we, as fallible beings, are not qualified to judge diddly squat about others. IMHO
Me, trying to cope after all the grandkids visit.
Was published once upon a time. Not sure I remember how to write anymore.
Nine years down the road, just wanted to see how you're doing. Hope you are finding random joys, @Orion117.
How do you sell them: Venmo? PayPal? What’s your cost?
Good work, and your dogs are fantastic!
