No, you're 100% right. This current "protest" is just a clever way to get the clicks/views up again quickly. I doubt there's real community behind most of it.
Summary: Keep going! We're getting twice as many clicks and adviews as we were before you all started this protest, engagement is through the roof and we love you! I love this. i've been using ublock in my browsers and an adblocking DNS server for years, I don't think I've ever seen an ad in Imgur. Shame there isn't a block service for all the political garbage we have to wade through.
