That's why you make yourself invaluable/really fucking hard to replace.

Um...many places give annual raises. You don't need a promotion to get one.

They didn't try to repeal. The new bill would have maintained the Obamacare regulations, the worst part of it.

And Republican voters get their IDs where? If shuttering DMVs hurt Dems, it would hurt Reps too.

A lot of Republicans can't stand him either. Those fuckers in Kentucky need to stop electing him.

He also blamed the Republicans that voted no....

For 7 years the GOP said their agenda was to repeal. That message got them elected. Then when they had the power, they reneged.

Because the Democrats will register the dead as Democratic voters?

I wouldn't be mad if I knew I was stuck in traffic for an extra 30 seconds because of The Rock

No. It doesn't hurt the kid. The kid's having fun. The dad's having fun.

This is the first joke about Jeff Session that actually made me laugh.

There is no leap in logic. You just apparently don't like information that requires an actual thought process. You'd prefer to be spoon fed.

Like what?

That "bunch of hoops" took 280 characters to write. If you think that's a lot, I'd say your brain must have atrophied from lack of use.

Depends on the horsepower. A 1/2HP motor will just stop if caught, but it's powerful enough to turn a bowl.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It helps you keep track of the center/flat area of the bowl interior so you know where to skew the sides down to.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I've spent way more money on the turning tools than I did my lathe. But quality tools make a world of difference.

Bee syrup? You mean honey?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With quality tools and practice, making a simple bowl like that is pretty easy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably the minimum you could get away with: Bench lathe ($200<), roughing gouge for exterior+bowl gouge for interior($100<).

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No. Fabric can get caught in lathes. Safety standards for lathes explicitly state not to wear gloves.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And gloves and long sleeves can get caught in spinning things and fuck your day up.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't see that happen too often. Usual reason for having to trash a piece is it chips/shatters.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who does commission work, it's easy to make 50 identical bowls if you have an efficient process. I'd take $5-$10 for that bowl.

Just spin the hammer as you swing it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saw dust is useful. I make fire starter logs out of most of mine. Just mix it with old shitty candle wax. A small piece will burn for 30 min

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As people have said, sanding on a lathe is super efficient (if not a little dangerous).

(2)can ruin the piece or injure you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(1)High quality tools (like carbide) can handle the corners bashing into them. You primarily risk chipping the shit out of the wood, which

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not necessary. You really only need to keep the motor clear. If the wire is getting hot enough to ignite shavings, somethings wrong.
