To me if you're spending more than 1% of your income on a piece of clothing or an accessory, you have your priorities mixed up.

I live outside of Toronto. In Toronto a few houses have made the news for going more than $400K over asking. Southern Ontario is messed up
You're lucky. Where I live houses are regularly going for $200,000+ over asking. It's made me feel very hopeless.
