I used a transparent piece of plastic to examine how the bristles meet the carpet at different *brush* height settings. This is Height '1'

This is a new brushroll (normal, not the stiff one), height setting '1' - showing how that is the perfect setting for a new roll.

As jet exhaust quite difficult to control accurately - it also used jets of 'bleed air' from the compressor stage of the engine.
