if the goal is just to play the content, I can highly reccomend emulation. most of the earlier console content plays reasonably accurately in that format, though purists will argue that it's a poor substitution. Personally I prefer it because it doesn't cost you $900 to find out that the game is terrible.

the ratio of Asshole:Civil Player is fairly heavy in the favor of the asshole in this case. The game can be fun at times but I, like you, have had enough spoiled experiences with assholes to not really be interested in pursuing the fun part.
