You’re both right. I make a composite with resin which is very much like carbon fibre. Then make that waterproof with hard wax

Sounds like you’ve had problems with hinges before! I use sturdy 5 barrelled hinges. But you still shouldn’t sit on them!

You could wash them, but shouldn't need to because they are finished with a hard wax which makes them waterproof and sweat proof
