Why should western governments pay reparations? They didn't enslave those people, enemy kingdoms like the recently whitewashed Kingdom of Dahomey (painted as anti-slavery heroes in the movie 'The Woman King') enslaved them and then sold them to traders, who in turn sold them to plantation owners. The only involvement western governments had was in doing nothing to stop it until the abolitionist movement eventually succeeded in turning public sentiment against it.

Not only is it not enough to live on, but if you somehow manage to amass $2000, the government will kick you off of means tested programs like SSI and Medicaid because $2000 is the asset limit for them. An asset limit set 40 years ago when SSI payments were like $300/month, that wasn't tied to inflation, and has never been adjusted since.
The 3/5th Compromise was also compromise in favor of free states, not in favor of slave states. Slave states wanted their slaves fully counted during the census, because a larger population would obviously grant them more seats in the House of Representatives. Free states didn't want slaves counted towards slave state populations AT ALL, so slave states would get less representation in congress. Thus the compromise.

Say you are a forklift driver and you just accidentally ran someone over and the authorities test you for drugs and you test positive... They don't know whether you smoked two weeks ago or smoked right before you started operating the forklift.

If years from now you default on your mortgage, it becomes a huge headache and potential money sink for the bank to foreclose on and then offload the house that they now own. If you suddenly stop paying rent, its no sweat off their back, they have nothing to do with that.

They are called 'white monkey' jobs. Basically companies hire white people to just hang out in their offices and look like employees because it makes their business look more legitimate to other Chinese people since Chinese people often stereotype white people in China as being high end professionals, business investors, etc.
And it would only hamper ourselves (IE: the US/'the west'). China and the like aren't going to care and will carry on with the research/technology no holds barred. I know everyone on this site hates America, but most can agree the CCP shouldn't dominate the planet either.
How is it incredibly difficult to stop buying useless consumerist garbage? The amount of plastic used to wrap food, which yes, is hard for most to avoid, pales in comparison to the amount of plastic from just random consumerist junk. But apparently so-called 'environmentalists' absolutely can't live without their Baby Yoda merch, their new iPhone every year, their dozen deliveries from Amazon every week, their makeup, their umpteen different bottles of skin care products, etc.
The person I live with watches all those home improvement networks and so many of the shows on them have the worst audio mixing imaginable... I'll head out to the kitchen to get some food and can barely hear anything from their TV and then the upbeat music starts playing and its like a flashbang just went off and the house literally starts shaking.
He goes well beyond that, he unabashedly parrots Russian propaganda. He excuses the entire invasion and says Russia had no choice but to invade due to evil American imperialism. Go watch his interviews, it literally sounds like he is reading straight from a checklist of pro-Russia talking points produced by Russian state television.
