Nah, if you distribute the 5 first, it’s 2+5*8-5*5. The part sole struggle with is how in algebra, if these were variables instead of numbers you can the implied multiplication (incorrectly) as “a+b(c-d)” =a+bc-cd, where a=2, b=5, c=8, d=5. Now what the original problem would really be written as in this case is “a+b*(c-d)”…I dunno where I was going here.
