I will leave you with this, every animal has a risk of harming a person. Whether it is by accident, self defense, fear, etc etc. We accept that risk when we bring them into our home and live with them. Yes even a cat. I play rough with mine and my arms are always scratched up. But they dont belong in the wild. They wouldn't survive anymore after we've domesticated them.

Raccoons, fox, and a few other animals are going through it now. Raccoons if raised from babies can be docile enough already, but the risk is always there.
Animals we have fully domesticated so far:
Livestock: Sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, water buffalo, yaks, reindeer, llamas, alpacas, and Bali cattle.Beasts of Burden/Draft: Horses, donkeys, camels and mules.
Companions: Dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, rats, birds (various)

This list isnt extensive, but shows that we have domesticated a lot of animals, so belonging in the "wild" just means we haven't domesticated them YET.
So domestication typically is selective breeding until a species is docile and wont badly harm a human. It still happens even with domesticated animals, see dogs as an example.
Belonging is a social construct. If you get a Opossum as a baby, it can be domesticated with ease because they are already docile, hardly ever biting humans (less bites than dog bites but possibly because we have more dogs than opossums), and they cant carry rabies (immune), just food for thought.
