Pretty much every picture of the night sky has some kind of post processing. The Milky Way looks like a cloud to the naked eye.

You may just need a bigger antenna. I ended up buying a large roof mount antenna and can now get all of the major networks.
Yes, they make HD antennas that pickup local channels. Besides being free, it is also better quality since it is not compressed video.
