This is just pointing out a flaw in market-based allocation of resources.

That was my point, but I guess I didn't say it outright so it wasn't obvious enough for you. Next time I won't overestimate you.

Following that logic to its conclusion: fuck medicine, fuck houses, fuck clothes...

I have to say, I never thought I'd see "the Jews didn't fight back enough, they don't deserve to be talked about so much" as a take.

And it was taken down for a reason.

Yes, and? Do you have a point, beyond 'no no it's ok if you do bad things, as long as I can pretend they deserve it'?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's for scale reasons. Basically, to fit everything onto the graph, they need to do that, as the point is to show the trends.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a different scale so you can have them both on there, because the point isn't "wow as many murders as burglaries!" but to show trends.

with both of them on it would have to choose between having one shoot off the top, and having one just be a tiny thing. So you give them ->

The point of the graph is to show trends, not absolute numbers - basically, there's a shitload more burglaries than murders, so a graph ->

Similarly, if you have a flag of the US on your property, it's obviously because you're an agent of the US government. Only they get one!

Curfew to try and stem a pandemic vs curfew to try and suppress protests; kind of a big difference, I'd say.

Of course there is. Who do you think is the one in charge of the Gay Agenda?

Plus the colonies! Don't forget those.

The topic is people doing "it's a republic not a democracy" nonsense, you're the one diverging off of it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But then again that has the Enemy Team word in it, so it must be bad, right?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

less school next time. A republic is a government that isn't a monarchy. Full stop. A representative democracy is what you're describing. ->

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, it doesn't. All of this "um actually" about republics is hilarious, because it's from people who don't have a clue what it means. Skip->

People get more angry when people meant to be in a position of authority and responsibility act poorly, than when random people do.

No problem. Had a TIL myself, looking it up, because I thought it came from a meaning of "the case I am making, all in one point".

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seems to come from French, "a pointe", meaning relevant/to the point, turned into "in point" then "case in point" between ~1650 and now.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, let's go into that. Where would the harm come from?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On one hand, sure, in theory I see where you're coming from. On the other hand, at some point you have to bite the hand that strangles you.

Saying it like that makes it sound like they hijacked it, midair. Which would probably be a damn good deterrent...

Part of Russia. Before then, part of Poland-Lithuania, before then, Lithuania.

More than having gold, at least in WWII ;p

I'd credit the Swiss turning their country into a giant bunker, and going all-in on preparation for both conventional and psychological war.
