Controlling the system is ending it. It was never designed to be perfect, it was designed to be improved, to fight back against the corruption that inevitably consumes governments.

Sometimes it failed and sometimes it improved, but people who sought to control it convinced people that the system was unshakable and used that belief as a smokescreen to make a play for power.

We should change it to voting week and everyone should be guaranteed a paid day off for the purposes of voting during that week.

If this is done to say “don’t light fires in a house without proper ventilation”, then I’m all for it. This seems to be more of a “don’t burn anything for any reason” demonstration. At least from the limited information I am gathering from this post.

That is why it is so important to get people talking about and discussing the nuance of situations.

Abortive care and the establishment of Roe v Wade as legal doctrine was praised even by conservative groups. It is only an issue today as politicians needed a new hook and with the complexity of the topic misconceptions about it were easily spread. This tactic is also the reason for the attacks on the trans community.

I really wish that people would seek understanding before accusation.

The "Paradox of Tolerance" is more aptly referred to as the "Compact of Tolerance". When you think of it as a rule it is hard to make sense of, but when it is viewed as a societal agreement it tends to make more sense.

We have already condemned leaded gasoline. The people who marketed it knew it was a problem and lied about it.

Don’t forget that we need to change to either instant runoff or approval voting as well.

All I ever wanted from a new Pokémon game was to be able to pick my starting town, visit towns in any order I wanted, and have non-gym paths to play for story progression. But instead they just give us new gimmicks that don’t stick around and the same gym focused gameplay for all of their main titles.

You can separate the art from the artist, but in order to do so you must avoid doing anything to further benefit the artist until such a time as the proceeds and discussion no longer support the problematic behavior.

And how would you create these? How would you protect the protections from degradation or elimination as has happened to many attempts before? How do we insure that people don't devalue the systems that their forebears put in place? There are a lot of additional questions we must ask as well.

The only reason laserjet printers cost less is because they want to sell you the ink. The printer is a loss leader, they want to sell the ink.

We just need to fight on multiple fronts. We need to fight against the damage to prevent everything from slipping further and we need to fight for worker empowerment and protection and we need to fight against the corruption of growth at any cost profiteering.

I'm not saying that it can't happen. But the likelihood of it happening between those two is very low and only decreases with each showy luxury he indulges in.

But, then why doesn't their chicken taste like pickles? I can't stand pickles but their chicken tastes good to me. I have had people attempt to brine chicken in pickle juice and it always smells like pickle to me and I can't stomach it.

First, I love the Idea of UBI, but the very concept concerns me as in order for it to work long term we would need a very different system. Furthermore I am concerned for how the system would be managed in the future when the reasons for its existence are no longer in the common memory of the populace. Look to Social Security and Minimum wage for examples of how these systems can break. I'm not saying that nothing should be done, I just think we really need to understand the full idea first.

if you know that they exist and have existed then how do you know that all of them are fake? That seems a fairly contradictory statement.

I would be willing to do a job for free. If and only if it supported my ability or the ability of a community member to survive and wasn't just going to enrich the life of someone who already has more than I ever will.

Lets see, If we had a truly free market, and companies didn't collude to set prices and wages, and people didn't need money to survive, then MAYBE we wouldn't need a minimum wage standard

If we are able to oust them, then we need to demand instant runoff or approval voting immediately.

Unfortunately, no. It would need to have distinction between the wings and as matter has a finite size you would never be able to make one. But, it would definitely look like a frisbee to anyone who saw it.
