That was Bungie's decision before the Sony acquisition. Sony had a clause in the purchase to take over Bungie if they failed to meet the projections Bungie had established for the latest release. They didn't meet the goal and are doing these layoffs for cost cutting to try and prevent Sony from removing the incompetent management at Bungie. This is literally Pete Parsons tanking the company to avoid accountability.
