Started out on active duty, got a degree, and retired from the Reserves. Now I live in NC and fix medical equipment.
A lot more people are going to start falling through cracks over the next 10 years as LLMs really start displacing entry level workers who really won't have other options. 55,000 people lost jobs last year to "AI."
I would love to go to a crawfish boil. It's been many years since I lived on the Gulf Coast.
I'm pretty sure it's from the little known movie "Oscar" from 1991. A Stallone fronted comedy with an interesting cast.
I got to see them in St. Louis with Lindsey Stirling. Fun show. Hope you had a great time.
Was thinking the other day that I hadn't seen one of your posts recently. Great to see the stories are still coming in.
We had a rock quarry.
I didn't. She and I made it work for 7 years, but three deployments and the fact she was queer ultimately ended things. Last I heard she was happy with her new girlfriend and our cats.
Hi "neighbor" we had a good turn out in Durham.
She has a whole video about that very thing. "The air is in the bag"
If I Remember Correctly
When my ex-wife and I were just starting to date back in college she had some "Survive at College" cookbook. We made one recipe from it, some sort of Ranch porkchop IIRC, that was so bad we (a) didn't finish it and (b) threw the cookbook away. So they exist.
I can neither confirm nor deny the validity of this statement. I can say that if they supposedly did do that, they may also keep those persons in physical darkness.
Did he 100% deserve to die? No, nearly no one 100% deserves death. But he traumatized a lot of kids then hid behind family connections and money to stay out of trouble. I know I slept better afterwards.
One of the bullys in my middle school class died of cancer (I think it was liver, but it's been 25 years) in our freshman year of Highschool. Among all the, "that's so sad, you must all be upset" platitudes from the adults, many of us were like, "Thank god he's not here anymore."
Was traveling recently and borrowed a cousin's (2010s) mustang convertible. While stopped at a shop a kid asked if we could lower and raise the top because, "there's one in my game"
It's fake, a skit from Bodycam Declassified.
Sadly fake. It was a skit from Bodycam Declassified
I met Mur briefly at the NC Ren Fest two years ago and got to tell her how much I loved her book. I have a signed copy and it is one the few books I don't have packed away.
"Six Wakes" by Mur Lafferty is probably my favorite sci-fi book (right now). A locked room (starship) murder mystery set against discussions and ethics of cloning, long lives, and revenge There are some TWs for the many 'isms' that come with speculative fiction, suicide, and... well, murder.
Still a great idea OP.
If scammers can get a theoretical physicist hooked to the point of going to jail, they can get anyone if they catch them at the wrong time. https://www.aps.org/archives/publications/apsnews/201301/uncphysicist.cfm
I miss a crawfish boil. One of the few things I miss from living down on the Gulf Coast.
When explaining "Upstate" I usually use White Plains.
I was a Corpsman. Retired as HMC after 23 years of Active and Reserve time.
Hello fellow Frigate sailor. Twenty years ago I was on 29.
Great to see you still going. Everyone needs a little whimsy.
I respect the base of your argument, but BCG is not regularly offered in the US. So for this specific disease, it's often not a parental decision. I spent time in TB endemic areas with the military and WE weren't even authorized it.
Yes. For the Seamless Multiplayer mod in Elden Ring. I spent a long time setting up a character based off Emma Watson so I could hit things with a big hammer while being named Emma Whackson. The team appreciated the pun.
Lord Vinheteiro needs to borrow that cat so they can both stare intently into the camera from a piano.
