If they weren't all consenting to it, then it wasn't poly. But if all parties knew that some people were just flings, it was.

Another big issue I run into is people claiming, as the first two comments here do, that poly is just an excuse to cheat. Or not commit.

Personally, I want to be a little bit more invested in my S/Os.

Poly can take many forms, that being one. So long as everyone knows and consents, it's valid.

And I think monogamous people prefer to suffer in unhappy relationships and not admit that one person can't fulfill all their needs.

I haven't searched the internet yet but I doubt it exists.
