The road has most likely been there ages. Ever since people came here after the last ice age eskers have been pathways across waterbodies.
Because healthier people are better workers, members of families and society... Ppl have energy to improve themselves rather than struggle.

1/2 Most definitely in formal language yes. I wouldn't use it when writing academic text (prefer word elk), but as our platform now is Imgur
I checked it from a dictionary as I'm not native english user. It says there are 3 usable plurals: moose, mooses and meese. Chose funniest.
I was suprised how in Canada the roadsigns warning about meese were so angry looking compared the signs in Scandinavia. Now I understand.
My cat loved Kedi, the documentary about cats of Istanbul.
I made treasure maps as a kid and became geographer.
In real life snowmen often get painted yellow.
