What's your source? Paul is confirmed to play drums on Back In The USSR and Dear Prudence whilst Ringo went away.
I know this a week late but Ringo plays drums on that song.
Paul was ok. But Ringo is hands down a better drummer.

Athere is no record of it being said and was traced to a joke made by a British comedian. Anyway, he was the best drummer in the band.
He might not be an amazing drummer, but he is influential and I can't think of many Beatles songs where his drumming is noticeably bad.
