Red pepper flakes can vary a lot between brands, and even package to package. I tend to test new brands with a small/cheap recipe before I use them in a big batch. I have seen variation between a 1/4 teaspoon and 3 tablespoons for the same level of spicy in a recipe. Some red pepper flakes can be pretty crazy.

The Ottawa Toronto flight is less than an hour, but if you want to go downtown to downtown, the flight is actually about the same travel time as the slow passenger train when you consider security etc.
I have not found parbaking necessary with meat pies. The filling doesn't release as much moisture as most pies, so the crust cooks fine. This one is just way too thick. On an individual tree basis, that's true. But lower in that article, they discuss that young forests sequester more carbon per acre than old ones. The individual trees sequester less, but there are so many more in a young forest that the needle tips.
There are lots of places where regulated capitalism is working well in forestry, including overseas. Modern silvacultural management, CITES regulation, and other factors have improved the impact of forestry dramatically over the last 25 years. Brazil in particular is managing their forests and lumber plantations extremely well. It's not perfect - China has a lot of issues with illegal logging, both internally and in other countries. It's a complex issue, and not nearly so clear cut as it looks.
jet fuel isn't leaded, only aviation gasoline. Leaded avgas is mostly used in small aircraft, with very little commercial use.
It's more like 2x now, for feature parity. But the patent runs out next year. I fully expect brands will have designs ready to go as soon as the patents expire.
