You dont have to know how to feel about it now. And you are allowed to feel differently about it now than you do tomorrow or next week or 5 minutes from now, and however you feel is totally valid. You got a real gift preparing and knowing this was coming. Closure is... hard sometimes. Its almost never what we want, only what we get. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope you get to use all the time you have now taking care of yourself. Sending digital UDP hugs.

Everyone has to process their own things in their own way so I cant tell you how to deal with that, but I do wish you peace with your past

I guess that depends on some things

Yep this is the kind of logic I use to beat myself up all the time. Turns out if I dont prewash all the dishes before I start the dishwasher then the worst thing that happens is sometimes I have to run it twice, or clean a few things by hand later. The world doesnt stop, i dont automatically fail at life, and everything else is OK. Most of the time no one even knows!

This goes for enjoying things too. If you read 5 pages of a book and aren't enjoying it, start a new one! If scented candles are stressing you out maybe play with the melted wax instead!

Its the butterfly effect, small things now can have huge impacts in the future. It just doesnt always feel like it. Its ok to do it in very small chunks

Here is my favorite life lesson i learned the hard way:

If its worth doing, its worth half-assing.

Seriously. Don't have the energy to do dishes? Wash one plate and one fork. Can't stand in the shower? Lay down, or wipe yourself with a wash cloth. Can't do laundry? Then at least put one outfit IN the washer. You dont even have to start it... yet. Self care can be hard, but you are absolutely allowed to half ass it! 5% effort is better than 0%!

Totally unsolicited advice here but ferrous sulfate pills absolutely destroyed my stomach for years, hurt like hell. If you have issues see if you can get Integra iron pills. My hematologist got me on them and all my stomach pain went away!

Hell yeah. I had a similar experience 2 years sober. ordered a mocktail, was served a cocktail. I spit it out everywhere. Good times.

If tempted, we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we will find that this has happened automatically.

One day at a time, sometimes 5 minutes at a time. Glad you made it back, I've lost a lot of people along the way. You got this!

Some days felt like an eternity but looking back it's just a blink of the eye!

Thank you!

Sometimes even a day can be too much, 5 minutes at a time is ok too.

You are allowed to start a new puzzle, and pick up whatever new pieces you want

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everything else! Results may vary of course. Good luck. Don't believe the lie you have to pick up all the puzzle pieces of your life.

Without getting something out of the do not touch pile, you'll know what you can get rid of.

Best moving tip I ever got: before you move if you use/wear something, it goes in a do not touch pile. When you find you can't function...
