I nearly thought I was farther on the spectrum than I should be not being able to figure this one out sooner.
One of us. Yeah, Netflix had nothing on the movie pass from Blockbuster. 2 movies at a time, multiple times a day, got me most of my DVD collection back in the day. Although, DVDs are a relic in these here modern days. Oh, and the best was having a manager who couldn't even afford a car, so Friday/Saturday night close outs were fun driving them home after the bars closed.
They saw the flaws in what Blockbuster did for a few years and capitalized on markets in areas they thought would have higher late returns, imo. I did enjoy the atmosphere at Hollywood Video over Blockbuster, and this coming from someone who worked at one. Ah, to be young again.
R.I.P. Video Stores (Blockbuster and Hollywood Video). I still remember watching Black Sheep on VHS because of a poster hung in a store before them.
