Same here. I always go settings first. I also am a qa tester and can confirm, i test the most ridiculous scenarios, and even when i think i reached the bottom of the case barrel, UAT proves me wrong by doing something so outside the realm of imagination that it breaks
As long as the cat likes it. Mine will stubbornly not use any other litter except the gravelly type (also clumps a bit, but not toilet friendly). For litter i have a small garbage can with a sealed cap in which i throw the poop and pee scoops, then i throw it out once every 2-ish days
Make sure to check a list of things toxic to cats to avoid, they are different from dogs for example. No feeding them bones ever (mine nearly died cause he dug one up from the trash and had a blockage). And remember, cats are not aloof and uncaring. If you give them love, they give it back

If he's the guy i know from yt, he always asks for permission first, so the guard knew in advance
