Now *I* want to save a baby bear from a forest fire.

When the canal was designed, expected traffic was lower but also - much more importantly - rains were dependable so there was no real doubt/concern about whether the lake would refill each rainy season. It's only in the last decade that that's not been the case. That's why the new locks have basins to reuse 60% of the water.

It is the DW supply for Panama City, the national capital of ~1.500.000 people!

If they were reusing water from Gatun it would not be salt water. It's a freshwater lake.

No. Gatun is high. Also it would be an ecological disaster (water flowing from atlantic into pacific) but that's not the reason they didn't do it - back in 1906 they wouldn't ave given a shit. It would just have been waaaaaaaay too deep.

I think it's easier if you don't care how many people die.

Neat isn't it! So weird that the connection from North to South America runs East-West not North-South too. I always felt like I was driving North to David.

I find "Texas is Red" so wild as a view. It's send a Dem president to the White House well within living memory.

One thing I took away from this - other than "America is fuuuuucked" - is that until 2019 you could buy a home in Denver, Riverside or Sacramento for $300k. Wouldna guessed.

I didn't initially notice who the author of the second tweet was and assume it was sarcamsm.

Civil servants implement policy. They don't make it. The right person to blame for this is the Prime Minister.

Imagine having the hubris to think you're the guy who'll get the better of JS. Tho GDP doesn't seem to have a grasp on reality in general.

Horrid headline, but horrid photo too. That building was built in a beautiful park, and they've gutted to avoid a 200m from cars.

Why are you framing around the windows instead of doing a browning coat and a finishing coat on the brick? Not belligerent just curious.

Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar is a fox, too.

Was the driver by any chance...non-white?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Yea it's lame but at least in this case it's making the non-participant look good! The guy helping doesn't know it's filmed (unless both do)

2/2 is guilty or not, but "wanting to return to a job you were wrongly ousted from", esp. if its a great job, is not evidence of guilt.

1/2 Most people would like to keep tenure at Harvard despite baseless accusations. This kind of reasoning is pointless. I don't know if he

Here they grow wild. Would be funny to be arrested - "oh thank god officer, if it weren't for you I would have _eaten_ them!".
