So you just need enough force to break that concrete wall to let the bridge slide sideways on the abutment.
One end of every bridge like that is never fixed in place. It needs to be able to slide to account for thermal expansion.
I had to attempt to do my rear brakes on my truck 4 times after work because rotors were rusted on. Ended up needing a sledgehammer.
Seems like a personal choice. Do you mind the grit of dirt crunching in your teeth? If not leave em a little dirty
