I was not expecting the Spiderman theme.

I never said they're not necessary. They certainly are. My statement was about how well it works. They're not a gold standard is all.
Everywhere I've lived that's only sometimes. More often they deliver right to my door, not the mailbox. And it's also a more recent thing.
I'm 41 yrs old. I don't ever remember a time when the usps worked well. There's a reason UPS, FedEx, etc exist.

When my job didn't offer benefits, my kid was completely covered under govt care. I wasn't, but he was.

I don't know. I remember my grandmother working 3 jobs, my dad working 2 and my mom working 1. So I think it's never been a thing. Lol.
