As much as I hate facebook it's pretty good for finding local hobby groups. If you're into videogames and comics you'll fit right in with a wargame or TCG group. If you have a local game store nearby they might know of a regular meetup for intros/demos of the games which is perfect for meeting friends

...after a time they decided it wasn't worth it. They ditched the star after 2/3 years and are just as successful
my friend's parents had a michelin star restaurant for a while, a tiny family business that was fairly well known in glasgow...
