My wife was injured during childbirth (uterine rupture) almost died. Was up for promotion I had worked on for a year but didn’t technically hit that 6 months straight of “exceeds” performance due to leave to care for my wife. Would need another block of 6 months of exceeds to qualify. I missed it by 6 days. Boss said eff that and day 6 after my 3 month leave announced my promotion. Found out it was an uphill fight for her with her bosses but she did it anyway.
