I promptly sent her a selfie with the gang at the meadery I was at while playing dnd, full map and dice out. The problem amended itself as she realized that I was a huge dork and capable of having platonic friends. Sometimes these issues just take time when the other party comes from having never had a real relationship.
Im not sure where this bearded soldier is weak thing is coming from either. If anything i always felt the beard policy was a bit strict, dude culture loves beards. Sure it can be a hassle on deployment but thats their burden and they can always cut it off if it gets to much.

But the thing is the general sentiment with immigrants in my community is that they are largely at worst harmless and often super functional for the local economy. Of course some of them bring crime but on a community level we recognize that of course its not all of them. The issue is GOP and their base cannot functionally handle nuance at any level that isnt "We need to hurt them so they dont hurt us like on the news".
Just from a basic war standpoint this is a huge change to warefare outright. While old tech methods of attack were meant to obliterate whole targets in a general area these attacks show that target destruction can be completed with minimal collateral. You dont need to obliterate a whole city block to disable an enemy, just their high value equipment and defenses.
The trick to taking over other tiles through culture takeovers is to have a positive culture influence rate on it. The U.S sold that tech tree for gold and forgot about that.
