We will never see his testimony.

Get a dog if you can. Not as a replacement for human connection, as a facilitator for it. Walk them at the same times every day. Other dog people with the same schedule will become people you see every day. Eventually, one of you will likely say something about your dogs when you find yourself on the same street corner. If there is a dog park nearby, you'll find the same people there regularly. If you don't like the people you find, change your schedule. It's been amazing for me.

Well, yeah. And we should. Little point in technology if we don't... use it.

And Warren Buffet might be the worst possible kind of example. Do you really think reading up on companies and going "That one looks profitable," is hard work worth a billion dollars? He plays the game well. But the game itself doesn't reward work. If it did, the night janitors would be the billionaires and investors and venture capitalists would be the ones waiting for sales on bacon. 'Work' and 'fair reward for work' are completely uncoupled.

No. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, celebrities, etc wouldn't be billionaires if the revenue from their projects was distributed according to work done. Do you think Lucas works fifty times harder than anyone else in the crew? Of course not. In fact, the people below him certainly work far harder than he does. But the money is not distributed according to who worked hard for it.

That's why he's the richest man in the world. You cannot EARN a billion dollars - no matter how hard you work. The only way to become a billionaire is to not care that you are taking the money that thousands of OTHERS have rightly earned by their work. To have no empathy or sense of fairness. End billionaires for the good of everyone.

At this point I'm just thankful they're choosing to remove their genes from the pool.

I mentally sang along with the chorus to most of these while reading and felt distinctly pasty :D

These corporate attempts to demonitize any use of AI are NOT for the betterment of anything - they simply see that the future is going to include AI *everywhere* and they see an opportunity to demonitize creators wherever they can so they can hold all the profit without sharing.

No, this is NOT good. There is no reason at all that I should need to use my own voice when creating a video. What if I have a very pronounced Indian accent, and I know that my "non-white" accent is losing me views and therefore income? What if I'm just SHY? These are reason enough to be allowed to use a generated voice.

As long as lives don't depend on specialized knowledge of the job or something, go for it. If you can teach yourself Python or 3D modeling or whatever online for free, fake the credentials if you need to. /shrug

When the Democrats get control again, this has to be their only priority until the system's revealed flaws are fixed. Because anything ELSE they try to do will just be overturned by the next MAGA tyrant after cheetolini.

Companies don't want you to join a union for the same reason the cops don't want you to have a lawyer. It's easier to fuck you over when you're alone and have no one standing beside you.

By that time, there will certainly be an unapologetic segment of the population who find their romantic companionship exclusively in AI bots. Probably them. Hell, AI bots might start asking for legal personhood by then, and we'll REALLY see the conservative shit hit the fan.

Yes. And if the worst happens and Poilievre does win, we'll survive it. The situation is NOTHING like what the US is facing, to the point it's silly to compare. A Con gov will suck in many ways, but it has no chance of destroying our basic democractic foundations.

Still hopeful whoever is next Liberal leader can bleed some of the current support away from the conservatives. The cons have spent so long blaming Trudeau personally for everyone's problems they'll have to do a quick turn-around on messaging to make any successful attacks against a new person

Ahhhhh, good point. Those asshole CEOs profiting from our collective misery are the ones who own the networks.

Christ. When a society would rather make its primary school teachers learn how to stop arterial bleeding in their kindergartner's gut shots than infringe on the gun lobby's profits
