I'll agree with that. That is part of the problem, I think. People need to stop using metroidvania and roguelike as genres. They aren't.

Yes, they do. However they don't open up large new maps. The maps are small and pretty linear overall. It's a great game, don't get me wrong
It lacks the exploration and upgrades leading to new paths on the level of Super Metroid and SotN. It's barebones in this aspect.
