Chickens used in the egg industry don't grow like broilers do. It's cheaper to just kill the lil' bois.
And always spray & neuter!

Providing domesticated animals with proper kind care is foolish?
But I know what feeding unhealthy crap does to an animal. I try to provide healthy and happy lives to animals. Sorry if that upsets you.
No but some simple changes to the animal welfare laws could be a good start. Some of my pets would love to live off from coke and pizza.
Well then it should be up to humans to make sure that the animals don't eat themselves sick, right?
But is intentionally causing an animal to have health issues (like fatty liver) ethical?

True. I've been thinking about getting a Vallhund one day but I worry how the body type might limit it's life. Shelter mutts are fine too.

Nope. Fleas were responsible for the plague. Domestic rats are as far away from their wild counterpart as pugs are to wolfs.
