Of course this isn't to say I'm never wrong.

I did my apprenticeship as a welder, fully coded in all positions, all 3 disciplines and now I work in ndt. I'm not oblivious to welding.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know, my original point was only in response to it being called pretty, I was saying sure. But it doesn't mean its a good weld

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are tonnes more materials out there

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From my experience it's a sign of poor temperature control. But then what do I know, I only worked with mild steel, stainless and aluminium

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I apologise, I wasnt supposed to say pretty. I was supposed to say it isn't a requirement

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So you agree with me that the discolouration isn't pretty. It's not the sign of a good weld. All I was saying.

I feed my own, may aswell feed yours too boss.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So apologies if I was wrong about anything sir.

I'm also an ndt tech, however I focus on immersion so my knowledge of testing welds etc stems from my apprenticeship way back when.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A visual test, even before any actual ndt was attempted

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or the material oxidising or a few other factors. But most places I've worked they wouldn't allow me to leave welds like that, it would fail

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If a weld is so discolored after finishing most often it's poor temperature control of the welder (not always, sometimes a desired effect)

Never really enough to need ploughing, when it's(rarely) bad they use tractors mainly with a plough.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most that i see around the UK don't have a plough

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not that I'm saying that's all I saw either

I mainly noticed a strong hatred for the west and its ideals

Spent much time there? My time is limited to only a handful of countries and aboutthree years, but this isn't something that I noticed
